GOOD NEWS FOR BLACKBERRY USERS IN INDIA

Research in Motion (RIM) makers of Blackberry handsets had agreed to provide access to their data of messaging and enterprise to intelligence agencies of India. Indian intelligence agencies put the matter in front of RIM that data in encrypted form is not easy to crack, so terrorist groups can use this service to connect to each other which could possess threat to national security. Government of India gave the ultimatum to RIM till 31st of August and had demanded the access to the data send by the use of their messaging services. Now RIM will be providing data to the intelligence agencies which therefore will monitor this data for an interval of two months i.e., by 31st October. If the data provided by RIM is not satisfactory, then RIM has to locate its server in India too, which now is in Canada. Presently all the data goes to Canada where it is encrypted to almost unbreakable code which devoid security agencies to track any kind of data.

WHY BLACKBERRY IS A HEADACHE FOR GOVERNMENT?

Blackberry is an Canadian based service provider with millions of users in almost every big country which includes India also but what is there which government does not like about Blackberry? It is their messaging services which does not allow intelligence agencies to intercept the mail send from the a Blackberry user to other. This is because Blackberry has its server in Canada and encryption level is so high that it is almost impossible to crack the message.
So you will think what is problem with that, Blackberry providing one good feature to its customers. But this the concern of Home Ministry and Intelligence agencies is that terrorist groups can also use these services to transmit their messages to each other and this can't be monitored by intelligence agencies so it poses national threat to national security.
So what is the solution?
Government is saying that Research in Motion (RIM), the makers of Blackberry should set up their server in India so that intelligence agencies could monitor the messages sent via Blackberry phones. If Blackberry does not comply with the conditions of government millions of Blackberry customers will not be use this service in future.

India is not the inly one to raise this issue , United Arab Emirates also put forward similar kinds of concern in front of RIM.
